The History of Stringers in London

“Maureen Stringer-Morrison founded Stringers of Edinburgh in 1992 and opened Stringers of London in 2007.

As a professional cellist, teacher and parent of young string players, she wanted to create a centre of excellence for string players of all levels from beginner to professional in a pleasant, relaxed environment.

Maureen studied Cello at the Royal College of Music, London, and the Chigiana in Sienna. She subsequently became a member of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Scottish Baroque Ensemble.”

Being a particularly good place to visit for students, Stringers is known for its fractional size instruments right the way from 1/16 size violins & cellos through to 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 7/8, & 4/4 sizes.

Having a particularly successful buy-back scheme, young players and their parents can buy instruments as they progress through the grades and exchange them for the next size up when the time is needed. This is an excellent choice for players who are still at school.

Stringers in London is located on Lisson Grove, NW1 and is five minutes walk from Marylebone station.
