About The Violin
A fine English violin by one of the country’s most impressive makers from the early 20th century, this instrument by Alfred Vincent is now available at Ruschil London. Made from characteristically high quality materials, it is a balance of pure making skill, artistry and precision.
Tonally the violin is punchy & reliable, with substance and clarity in all registers. It excels in all areas and would suit quartet, orchestra & solo work. Very special indeed.
About The Maker:
Alfred Vincent (1877 - 1947)
Alfred Vincent was active in London from 1902 and was awarded first prize at the Cobbett Competition, London in 1923. He worked at 40 Great Pulteney Street where he completed over 300 instruments, including a quartet bequeathed to the Royal Academy of Music. His work was fine and was based on a Stradivari model often with this deep red-brown varnish.
He was also an accomplished player and played first violin in His Majesty’s Theatre, London.
